Cravinkel was founded in 1969 by Gert «Kralle» Krawinkel, who later –in the early ’80s– achieved world wide fame with Trio (of the hit ’Da Da Da’). The Hamburg–based Cravinkel relocated to a country house to find a place where they could develop their musical ideas. The eponymous first Cravinkel album featured blues–folk–rock tracks with slightly psychedelic influences, more or less similar to the first album by Spooky Tooth. The band was signed by label Philips, which offered them recording facilities in the IBC Studios in London. The recordings, made in August 1970, were released at the end of the year.
This reissue comes as an exact reproduction, including the original album sleeve as a double fold out cover showing the band lazing in a rural landscape. Remastered from original mastertape, the LP contains two bonustracks from a 1971 single (’Keep On Running’/’Mr. Cooley’) and band history.
